Get Involved

VT Flourish is a new design magazine at Virginia Tech that focuses on writing articles related to design and the arts. We are looking for students who have passion for design, writing or computer science. It’s a great opportunity for students to have published work while in college and is a great experience to extend your research skills and writing skills. If you are passionate about any specific topics in arts and design, we would love to have you!

Teams

There are three teams within VT Flourish: Design, Writing, and Digital. You can be on multiple teams at once if you want!

Design Team

‍We are looking for design majors who could produce graphics for recruitment, as well as graphics for the articles and the website itself. This could be a great opportunity to practice your design skills outside of your major and you could feature your work in your portfolio or resume. If you want to share a sample of your portfolio/designs, feel free to drop it in the Google form below!

Writing Team

‍We are looking for people with a passion for writing – it does not matter what major you are. If you love arts and design, or art history, this is the right place for you! The writing team will focus on producing a variety of articles (about 500-600 words per article) about topics in design they find interesting. The roles within the writing team will include writers, editors, spell-checkers and more. This could be a great opportunity for you to have published work while in college. If you want to share an option sample of your writing, you can drop it in the google form below! It can be any type of writing you’ve done in the past – an essay for a class, or a personal piece. We just want to know what your writing style is.

Digital Team

‍If you are a computer science major or are in a related field, we want you to be a part of the club! The roles for this team would involve making sure all links and pages within the website work, creating new pages and overall working with the website platform (Webflow). This could be a position you could feature on your resume for the future internships and jobs.

If the time commitment of being in a club feels like too much, but you still want to participate, you can submit your articles or any writing below and we will take a look, edit, and publish it!
